Body Of Man Found in River

MANITOWOC -
Erven Krieser, 67, 2313-12th St., Two Rivers, was found dead floating in the Manitowoc River downtown at 7:28 a.m. Monday, police reported.

Krieser walked away from Holy Family Hospital, where he was admitted as a patient July 18, about 4 p.m. Sunday.

County Coroner Dr. Theodore A. Teitgen said the body had been in the river overnight.

The body was spotted from the McMullen and Pitz Construction Co. tugboat Eric by Leonard Reimer, 730 S. 26th St., and George Bessert, 2115 Lexington Dr.

Officers Ronald Rusboldt, John Ording, Reimer and Bessert pulled the body from the river. Krieser was identified by papers in his wallet.

Mr. Krieser was born Sept. 13, 1899, in the Town of Chase, Oconto County, son of the late August and Emma Simon Krieser. He attended the area rural schools. Aug. 11, 1920, he married Lillian Edwards at Oconto. Shortly after marriage the couple moved to Two Rivers. Before joining the Two Rivers Fire Dept. June 29, 1929, he had worked at the former Wisconsin Wood Products Co. plant, now part of the Municipal Water and Light Plant. He retired in 1953 after 24 years of service.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Jess, of Richton Park, Ill., two sisters, Mrs. Frank Dugan and Mrs. John Rose, of Green Bay; two brothers, Karl, of Green Bay and William of San Diego, Calif., and two grandchildren, Curtis and Byron Krieser. Three sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services tentatively have been set for 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Manitowoc, the Rev. Harvey Rakow officiating. Cremation will follow. Services will be announced Tuesday by Deja and Martin Funeral Chapels, Two Rivers.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
