Memorial services will be 7 pm Wednesday at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Deacon Donald Schneider will officiate with cremation having taken place.

Mr. Koch was born February 20, 1923 at Two Rivers, Wisconsin, son of the late Fredrick and Clara Olson Koch. He was a 1942 graduate of Lincoln High School. He enlisted with the United States Marines in World War II as a Gunner in the Pacific Theater from 1942 until he was discharged in 1945. He then attended Chicago Institute of Art and graduated in 1950. He married Barbara Ann Gregg, September 10, 1949 at Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Chic worked at Hughes Aircraft in Culver City, California after graduating from the Chicago Art Institute. In 1952, he came back to Wisconsin to take over a plumbing contracting business formerly operated by his late stepfather, George Grewski. He learned the business by reading books and talking to salesmen. Chic shared business quarters initially with the late Edward Skarda in a small building on Washington Street between 13th and 14th Streets. Mr. Skarda was an electrical wholesaler while Chic was involved in the Plumbing Wholesale. The arrangement continued when they moved about a year later into a building on Ninth Street and Maritime Drive now occupied by Ray's World of Electronics. The men parted ways in 1960 when Manitowoc Plumbing Supply moved to its present location at 924 York Street. The company has more than 200 customers and serves plumbing and heating contractors and Industrial firms in an area stretching from Sheboygan, north to Sturgeon Bay and west to Chilton. It currently employs seven persons.

Chic has a 190 acre farm near Kellnersville and has been active in conservation efforts on the farm since 1968 when he planted 10,000 trees and wild life shrubs. In 1969 he had a 1 acre pond constructed to provide open water habitat. In 1981-1988 he had wild life ponds constructed to provide feeding habitats for duck and geese under the wetland development program. He has been cited many times by the state Department of Natural Resources for his conservation efforts. In 1987 he received the Wildlife Habitat Award from the Manitowoc County Land Conservation Committee. Since Chic was so involved in Wildlife Conservation his family has decided to set up the Chic Koch Memorial Conservation Scholarship Fund. The fund will grant yearly scholarships for qualifying Manitowoc County students. Contributions may be sent to Chic Koch Memorial Conservation Scholarship Fund, c/o Manitowoc Plumbing Supply, 924 York St., Manitowoc, WI 54220.

Mr. Koch was a member of Elks Lodge No. 687, Yacht club, Masonic Lodge No. 65, Shriners of Manitowoc and Two Rivers and was on the Rahr West Museum Board. He was President and Founder of Manitowoc Plumbing Supply Inc. Mr. Koch belonged to the Kiwanis Club and started many innovations in the club when he was president. He was also a member of the Masons and a 32nd degree Shriner.
