Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. today at Hartman Funeral Home and from 8 a.m. Monday until services at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Rick Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mrs. Purl was born Feb. 13, 1897, in Wesson. She was the daughter of the late Shelton Boyanton and the late Pinkie Azaline Breeden Boyanton.
She was a housewife and mother. She was a longwife and mother. She was a longtime member of East McComb Baptist Church and a member of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emmett M. Purl; a daughter, Juanita Mathews; two grandsons, Charlie Weaver III and Wayne C. Weaver; three brothers, Arthur Boyanton, Virgil Boyanton, and James Boyanton; and two sisters, Anna Mefford and Martha Gullatt.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Emmett M. Purl Jr. and Mary Purl of Madera, Calif.; and three daughters and one son-in-law, Louise Jones of Baton Rouge, La., Dorothy Holliday and Lena Mae and Charlie Weaver, both of McComb; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons, Chris Weaver, Britt Holliday, Curtis Holliday, Hal Sibley, Michael Purl and Melvin Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be her other grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East McComb Baptist Church.
