Mrs Lou Hamby Adkins,72, died at 2:15 Thursday, March 11 at her home in Oakdale. She had been ill about 3 years following a broken hip suffered in a fall at her home. She was the widow of A J Adkins.
They had no children but raised 5 of her brother's, the late Ivy Hamby: Lee, Cincinnati; twins Harry and Henry, Chattanooga; Lester, Oakdale; Mrs Garland (Annie Mae) Chandler, Tuscaloosa, Al. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Mrs Laura Aytes, Crossville; Mrs Nora Hurst and Mrs Flora Smith, Pine Orchard; 4 brothers, Alvin, Crossville; Charlie and Frank, Crab Orchard; Alf, Rockwood.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. with burial at Pine Orchard.
