TELEVISION EXECUTIVE DIES HERE
Lawrence Berns Universal TV vice president and longtime radio and television writer-producer died in Cedars of Lebanon Hospital Thursday at the age of 57.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., June 25 1908, Berns graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and entered the field of radio soon after.
He joined CBS in 1942, writing and producing radio and TV series including "Our Miss Brooks".
At Universal he produced "The Nanette Fabray Show" and for the past four years served as production executive for "McHale's Navy" and "Broadside" series as well as for the two "McHale's'' feature films.
He is survived by his widow actress Sandra Gould, a son, Michael and his mother who resides in Philadelphia.
No services will be held and in lieu of flowers the family has suggested that contributions may be made either to the Lawrence Berns Memorial Fund in care of The City of Hope or the Motion Picture Relief Fund Hospital
