He was born November 8, 1958 in Streator, a son of Robert L. and Ila Mae (Schallhammer) Armstrong. He married Josephine "Josie" Fricano on May 9, 1981 in Streator. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter: Jessica Marie Armstrong, at home; a son: Lucas Robert Armstrong, at home; his parents of Rural Route 1 Ransom; brothers: Arthur Armstrong and Tim Armstrong, both of Ransom; a sister: Sherri Leroy Armstrong of Ransom; maternal grandmother: Lila Schallhammer of Streator; paternal grandmother: Mary Armstrong of Rural Route 1 Grand Ridge; and father- and mother-in-law: Joseph and Maria (Camarda) Fricano of Streator.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Arthur Schallhammer; and paternal grandfather: Lincoln Armstrong.
A resident of Ransom and Streator all of his life, he was employed by General Telephone Company in Streator and Pontiac.
He attended Ransom grade school and graduated from Streator high school in 1976. Active in golfing and men's slow and fast pitch softball, he was also a member of St. Patrick's Church in Ransom and Streator Knights of Columbus #790.
