HOUGHTON – Albert Hart McCarthy, 86, a resident of Houghton passed away Sunday afternoon, September 28, 2014, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where he had been a patient for the past week.

He was born on May 16, 1928, in Houghton a son of the late John and Eva (Hart) McCarthy. He graduated from the St. Ignatius Catholic School in Houghton and was a graduate of Houghton High School with the class of 1947.

Mr. McCarthy was a veteran having served with the United States Army during the Korean War.

On November 27, 1952, he was united in marriage to the former Bernadine Owens, at St. Joseph's Church in Hancock.

Albert was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton. He had coached Little League baseball, Junior Hockey and umpired baseball games.
