James R. Burton, of Fairfield Twp., passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at the age of 77. He was born Thursday, November 18, 1943 in North Platte, Nebraska to Ivan J. and Betty Joy (nee Hamilton) Burton.

At the age of 21, Jim married his best-friend and soul-mate, Catherine A. Buck. The couple made their vows to each other in St. Luke Catholic Church in Ogallala, Nebraska. Jim passed away two days before celebrating his 56th wedding anniversary.

Following Jim's graduation from the University of Wyoming in 1966, he began his professional career with the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York. While working for Kodak the family also lived in the San Francisco, L.A., Chicago, and Cincinnati areas. In 1982, Jim earned his MBA from the Simon Business school at the University of Rochester. After 27 years with Kodak he retired and went on to become the Executive Director of the Rochester Alzheimer's Association. In 1999, Jim and Cathy moved to the northern Cincinnati area and purchased a Home Instead franchise. Jim loved being a business owner and worked very hard to help seniors and their families. After selling the business in 2012, Jim enjoyed retirement. He loved to read, but also loved to write. He belonged to the Writer's Group and wrote a number of poems, as well as a book he planned to publish. He enjoyed being a member of the Young at Heart group at St. Maximilian Parish. He loved being with his family, friends, and most importantly grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by: parents, Ivan and Betty Burton; and brothers, Jack Burton and Jay Burton.

Jim is survived by: wife, Cathy A. (nee Buck) Burton; children, Kristen (Tim) Sigward, Kari (John) Gutzwiller, and Steven (Lisa) Burton; grandchildren, Abby Sigward, Macy Sigward, Leah Gutzwiller, Sam Gutzwiller, Tyler Burton, Justin Burton, and Drew Burton

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. The family looks forward to visiting with you and sharing memories.

A Mass of Christian Burial Service will be Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 5720 Hamilton Mason Road, Liberty Twp., Ohio 45011. A luncheon reception will immediately follow at the Church.

Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of Dayton.
