Anthony "Bear" J. Vigil, age 40, of Ranchitos-Española, NM was born on August 29, 1980 to Pearl Vigil and Ruben "Kelly" Vigil.
Anthony departed on July 12, 2021.
Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Ruben "Kelly" Vigil.
Anthony had a big loving heart and touched everyone he came to know. Anthony loved his family dearly, especially his two beautiful daughters, Kaitlyn and Amaya Vigil who he called his angels.Anthony would light up and get the biggest smile on his face when he would talk about them. They were his world. Anthony had a smile that would brighten up a room, a laugh that would fill the room, and a smirk that would give him away when he was being mischievous. His jokes would crack everyone up. Anthony had a way with people and everyone he had the pleasure of meeting, welcomed him as family and have many fond memories of him. They were all important to him and he made sure they knew it.
Devoted to every job and loved his time as a short term as Asst. Fire Chief in Abiquiú,NM. Anthony worked hard and loved his mountain time no matter the time of year. There was always time for a trip to the woods.
Anthony is survived by his mother, Pearl Vigil of Ranchitos, daugthers, Kaitlyn Vigil and her mom, Leslie García of Medenales as well as Amaya Vigil and her mom, Jennifer Martínez of Tierra Azul, sister, Natalie Vigil (Henry) of Ranchitos, brothers, Robert Vigil (Madeline Martin) of Ranchitos and Roger Vigil of Ranchitos, nieces, Samantha (Sam) Rivera of Ranchitos and Anglique Vigil of Española, nephews, Manny J. Vargas Jr. of Ranchitos (Angel Herrera) and Dominic Vigil of Española, a; Aunt Bernie Rendon of Velarde, Aunt Cleo Pacheco of Ranchitos, aunt, Susie and uncle, José Ben Martínez of Las Cruces and family, uncle, Victor and aunt, Christina Montoya and family of Santa Fé, uncle, Johnny Vigil of Alcalde, aunt, Lorraine Patterson and family of Albuquerque, Godparents, Randy and Darby Rendon of Velarde and close cousins and friends, as well as a daily companion, Orlando Archuleta (Yvonne, and cousin, Orlando Jr. 'Buddy" Archuleta. Many cousins to list but surely not forgotten from near and far.
Visitation will be from at 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2021 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home in Española with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at San Juan de Bautista Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo. Burial will follow at San Raphael Cemetery in El Guique , NM. Serving the family as pallbearers are Marcus Trujillo, Brian Griego, Dilio Archuleta, Orlando Archuleta, Randy Rendon, Dominic Vigil, Johnthan García and Eddy Pacheco.
We would like to deeply thank you all for your prayers, time and food as well as contributions in these trying times. We especially would like to thank the following, Father Dennis of Santa Fé and Lucy Pacheco and family of Utah with their help of the rental of the community center. Godparents, Randy and Darby Rendon for being there in the highs and lows during Anthony's time of need. Ex-spouse, Leslie García and the García Family for extended helping hands, Brian Griego and family of La Madera, Sherrie Sandoval and Jim Martínez for being patient and helpful as well as accommodating us in during the grieving process, San Juan de Bautista Parish for helping guide Anthony to his final resting place, Madeline Martin and Annabelle Guerra for their unrelenting help behind it all, Eric Pacheco Dawson and Cleo Pacheco for your generous donations.
