Resided in Hyde County and enlisted at Camp Holmes, near Raleigh, at age 45, October 2, 1864 for the war. Present or accounted for until captured in hospital at Richmond, Virginia April 3, 1865. Transferred to Newport News, Virginia April 23, 1865. Released at Newport News on June 30, 1865, after taking the Oath of Allegiance.
