On Thursday, July 15, 2021, our precious mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend, Shakira Erica René Jones gained her wings. She was affectionately called, "Kira" or "Big Baby" by friends and loved ones. Kira was born November 2, 1994 to Takila Adams and Eric Jones in Portsmouth, Virginia. She was educated in the Portsmouth Public School systems, graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 2013 and continued her education at Tidewater Community College (T.C.C.). Kira dedicated her life to Christ and was baptized at New Mount Olivet Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Milton R. Blount. She loved God and listening to gospel music. She was just a very outgoing kind person who loved her family and children. Her people-person, fun-loving personality will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She was employed with Harmony at Harbor View in Suffolk, Virginia. Kira shared a special bond with Mark Saunders and her two best friends, Diamond Moseley and Tyceara Jones. She was predeceased by her son, Carter Saunders; grandmother, Mrs. Clayretta Wilson; maternal and paternal grandfathers, Mr. Ernest Jones, Sr. and Mr. Garry Sanders. Kira leaves to cherish her memory, her precious daughter, Caylei Sanders; grandmother, Mrs. Carrie Morgan; nine siblings, Keyontra Brown, Malik Davis, Markell Sharpe, Eric Jones Jr., Erica Jones, Eriona Jones, Sincere Jones, Shyheim Wells and Lataysha Wells; aunts, Anita "Aunt Nay" Cofield, April Sanders, and Joanne Hawks; five uncles, Ernest Jones Jr., Kenyatta Adams, Dion Adams, Rico Hamilton and Gary Lindsey; twelve cousins, Tameka Adams, Tanisha Adams, Ernest Jones III, Deontre Adams, Antonio Saunders, Aliyah Saunders, Amari Saunders, Morgan Lindsay, Mason Lindsay, Mayor Lindsay, Aliya Hamilton, Edward Hamilton and a host of other relatives and friends.
