Andrew Jackson Atkins (1883-1931, son of William C. "Millard" Atkins & Mary Richmond) married Mary Frances Horton, date unknown in West Virginia (probably Cabell County).

Mary Frances (Horton) Adkins/Atkins was the daughter of
• [Father] — William H. Horton (born 1857, Putnam County, Virginia), 2nd husband of Octavia
- Son of William Horton & Mary E. Holley
• [Mother] — Octavia (Egnor) 1. Smith, 2. HORTON, 3. Plumley, 4. Saddler
- Daughter of John Washington Egnor & Lucinda Frances Plumley
[William H. Horton & Octavia (Egnor) Smith married
12 Oct 1882 in Kanawha County, West Virginia.]

Andrew & Mary were both born in Cabell County, and had their many children in Putnam & Kanawha counties.

••• Andrew's burial location is unknown, cited one place on his death certificate, another place in his obituary, and several other places by family. Note: There are several Andrew Jackson Atkins/Adkins, one I believe even has the same year of death. Andrew's brother is Oliver Balaam "O.B." Atkins of Saint Albans. Andrew's birth and death dates are listed in O.B.'s family Bible, but nothing is mentioned about where he was buried.

Mary died at home by Little Sandy Creek according to family and was buried as the only grave on a hillside near where Rush Branch (now along Little Sandy Creek Rd. at Ferris Ln.) empties into Little Sandy Creek. This location (GPS: 38.448942,-81.505545) was to be a cemetery, but the ground was too rocky. Later, James Walker Proctor created the Proctor Family Cemetery just up the hill from her grave site. Several of Andrew & Mary Atkins' children are buried there.

Mary was married to Andrew Jackson Adkins/Atkins, who was born 10 August 1883 (per death information, but family says 1884). Andrew died 17 February 1931. They had 14 children, and Mary was pregnant with another child when she passed away. Their children:

• 1906-1906 **Romie Eldrege**
• 1908-1998 Nada
• 1909-1991 Cicly (known as Sally Virginia)
• 1912-1983 Earl Clement
• 1913-1988 Ray Connie
• 1914-1989 Clarence Clifford
• 1916-1966 Edith Evelyn
• 1917-1917 **Rasia Deuoda**
• 1918-1999 Ora Hester
• 1920-2019 Cassie (Lillian) Dixie
• 1921-2006 Margaret Marie (known as Margaret Ann)
• 1922-1998 Virgil Ocil
• 1925-1997 Lonzo Denver (known as Lonzo Harold)
• 1928-2013 Octave (adopted as an infant and known as Loretta Eileen Pittman), memorial ID: 143564946 (linked to her adoptive parents)

Gravesite Details

Death Certificate gives this cemetery location; however, other conflicting family information and lack of documentation for Andrew at this cemetery casts doubt that he is actually here.
