A Dwight man was killed instantly late Tuesday afternoon when an accumulation of gas exploded on his farm, a mile south of Dwight. Albert A. Fieldman, 59, 220 E. Chippewa St., died in the accident. The force of the explosion reportedly was felt in Dwight at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday. Fieldman was working alone on a grain drying unit at his farm. The excess accumulation of gas trapped under the corn in the bin apparently exploded when he I threw an electric switch. He was thrown about 25 feet by the blast, which also blew out the three bottom tiers of the seven level grain bin. Marvin Runyon of the Dwight Police notified the county coroner's office and Deputy Coroner Keith Von Qualen conducted the investigation

He was born July 12, 1911, in Dwight, a son of Robert and Marguerithe (Christman) Fieldman. He never married. He was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church. Survivors include a brother, Harold of Gardner, and a sister, Miss Violet Fieldman of Dwight. His parents and a brother preceded him in death.
