Fred Robert Sparks, 63, Orleans, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013at 5:15 p.m. at IU Hospice House in Bloomington.

Born March 31, 1949 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Fred and Marcia Sills Sparks. He was a former truckdriver and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Stivers Sparks. They were married Oct. 3, 1993. He is also survived by two sons, John Jackson and Kevin Sparks, both of Orleans; four daughters, Julie Sparks, Ellettsville, Jamie Shipley, Bloomington, Stacey Jackson, Jeffersonville and Amy Giddens, Lakeview, Ohio; two brothers, Jim Sparks and Homer Sparks, both of Bloomington; two sisters, Velda Fisher, Bloomington and Vivian Hoyme, Maryland; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Edith Eads.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
