He was a Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather
Al retired from The State of Alabama, Department of Public Safety as a State trooper with 33 years of Loyal and dedicated service.
He was part of the ABI Division, Driver's License division and a founding member of The State Trooper Honor Guard.
Al was a Master Mason, Shriner, and a member of the Scottish Rite. As a Shriner he transported patients to Shreveport, Galveston and other Shriner hospitals, and took great joy in making a difference in the children's lives. He was Past Master of Loop Lodge #895 from1996-1997 and a dual member of George U Potter lodge #912.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and bowler with many and varied hobbies.
Al was loved and admired by all who knew him. Always quick with a joke a laugh and a smile.
He was preceded in death by his Father Vance Covin Abbett. His Mother Clessie Clara Patterson Abbett, Brothers James Roland Abbett and William B Abbett. Sister Patricia Ann Abbett and Nephews Steven Vance Abbett and Anthony Lewis Abbett.
He is Survived, loved and missed by His wife Marsha Abbett, Son Alvin Lee (Amy) Abbett Sr.
Daughter Sara Marie (Billy Daughdrill) Abbett, Stepson Sam (Julie) Moore, Carey (Caroline) Moore
Brother Nick (Grace) Abbett, Brother-In-law Doug Yeager, Sisters in Law Linda Abbett, Ruth Ann Abbett,
Elaine (Fred) Moody and Rhonda Acker. Grand Children Joey Gann, Katherine (James) Sandefur, Amanda Leddick, A J Abbett, Haley Moore, Madeline Moore and Lily Moore. A host of nieces, nephews and great grandchildren and an abundance of friends. Visitation will be held from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 12:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with interment in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
