He was a Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather
Al retired from The State of Alabama, Department of Public Safety as a State trooper with 33 years of Loyal and dedicated service.
He was part of the ABI Division, Driver's License division and a founding member of The State Trooper Honor Guard.
Al was a Master Mason, Shriner, and a member of the Scottish Rite. As a Shriner he transported patients to Shreveport, Galveston and other Shriner hospitals, and took great joy in making a difference in the children's lives. He was Past Master of Loop Lodge #895 from1996-1997 and a dual member of George U Potter lodge #912.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and bowler with many and varied hobbies.
Al was loved and admired by all who knew him. Always quick with a joke a laugh and a smile.
He was preceded in death by his Father Vance Covin Abbett. His Mother Clessie Clara Patterson Abbett, Brothers James Roland Abbett and William B Abbett. Sister Patricia Ann Abbett and Nephews Steven Vance Abbett and Anthony Lewis Abbett.
He is Survived, loved and missed by His wife Marsha Abbett, Son Alvin Lee (Amy) Abbett Sr.

A host of nieces, nephews and great grandchildren and an abundance of friends. Visitation will be held from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 6-8 PM. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 12:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with interment in Serenity Memorial Gardens.
