Mary Frances Bates was born in Gurley, AL on November 27, 1935. She was accepted in the arms of her Saviour January 9, 2022.

Mary graduated from New Hope High School in AL in 1954. She married the love of her life, Dave Bates, August 19, 1953. They were happily married for 58 years until July 16, 2012 when Dave lost his battle with cancer.

While in AL she was a shoemaker and worked at Sunbeam Bread Company. The family moved to FL in 1968. While in FL, she worked at a Plant Nursery, Tomato Packing House and finished her career at Palmetto Pines Golf Couse in 2000.

Mary loved her family, friends and most of all God. Mary is survived by her son Randy (DeeDee), her son Jeff (Kela), granddaughters Tra'kela and Taraji and her brother Donald Key (JoAnn).

The following are open to friends and family:
A visitation for Mary will be held Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park, 1400 36th Avenue East, Ellenton, FL, 34222. A committal service will occur Friday, January 14, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Fortner Cemetery, 6628 136th Terrace East Parrish, FL, 34219.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Tidewell Hospice.
