Dwayne Allen Adkins, 34, Stearns, died February 16, 2002 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, Somerset, Kentucky. Funeral services were held February 19, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at McCreary County Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Vanover and Rev. Jim Strunk officiating. Burial was in Adkins Family Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 1, 1968 in Oneida, Tennessee to Floyd and Sharon Vanover Adkins. He was a truck driver and member of Taylor Ridge Baptist Church.

His grandfather, Alonzo Vanover and two uncles, Gary Vanover and David Vanover, preceded him in death.

Survivors include Karen Stephens, Whitley City, the mother of his two children, a son, Dwayne Aaron Adkins and a daughter, Jordan Adkins, both of Whitley City; a stepdaughter, Ashley Stephens, Whitley City; parents, Floyd Dwayne and Sharon Vanover Adkins, Stearns; paternal grandparents, Floyd Lee and Irene Adkins, Oneida, Tennessee; maternal grandmother, Annabelle Vanover; great-grandmother, Della Perkins, Oneida, Tennessee; brother, Robbie D. Adkins, Stearns; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

McCreary County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
