Always a member of her professional organizations, Mrs. Aiken was also, at various times, a Brownie Scout troop leader, a Cub Scout den mother, a baseball, basketball and tennis mom, and a member of AAUW, DAR, and Mensa. A Reformed Presbyterian, Mrs. Aiken was always active in her church until she could no longer drive.
Her hobbies were reading, solving all kinds of puzzles, playing the piano, and collecting eggs as she traveled the world.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Aiken was predeceased by her brother Charles Jenkins, an infant son, and the father of her children, Francis James Aiken, Jr.
She is survived by her four children and their families: Nancy and Alex Campbell of Anderson, SC, and their children Zan, Meg, McBryde, and Ian; Michael and Belem Aiken of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and their children Ana Michelle and Michael; Patrick and Laurie Aiken of Columbus, GA, and their child Grace; and Charlie Aiken of Warner Robins, GA. Also, her sister-in-law Marilyn Jenkins of Chapin, SC, and her nephew and niece, Matthew and Tamera Jenkins of Brooklyn, NY.
A graveside service will be held at Oconee Memorial Park, Seneca, SC, on Sunday, August 1st, at 2:00 PM. Honoring Mrs. Aiken's wishes, the family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the charity of your choice.
