Craig Darren Akers, 47, of Hewett departed this life Saturday, November 17, 2007 at home.
He was born November 21, 1959 to Marvin and Carlie Akers of Hewett.

He was preceded in death by his father Marvin Akers; two brothers, Zane Akers and Ronnie Akers; one sister Linda Mills; grandparents, Bob Dent and Sadie "Wilson" Dent and Frank and Unie Albright.

He had served nine years and six months in the United States Army. He was a veteran of Desert Storm War, Saudi Arabia, where he served as a short range missile crewman. He also serve two tours in Germany and two tours stateside.

He is survived by his mother, Carlie Akers of Hewett; two sons, Craig Jr., and Jeremiah both of Tennessee; three brothers, Marvin Dwain (Lawana) Akers of Danville, Carson (Shelia) Akers and Bobby (Kathy) Akers both of Hewett; two sisters, Laura Mae (Andre) Sauvageau of Hagerstown, Maryland and Adele Holten of Danville.

He will be greatly missed.

Services will be 11 am Wednesday, November 21 at Handley Funeral Home, Danville with the Rev. Roger McCauley officiating. Burial will follow in Baldwin Cemetery, Isom.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
