The Sully County, Watchman, Clifton, D.T., 21 Nov 1885, page 1:
"Took his own life. Wm. B. Aaron, a butcher, and for some past years a resident of Pierre, while laboring under mental derangement from the effect of hard drinking, committed suicide in the basement of the First National Bank of that city on Friday, Nov, 27th, by a gunshot wound to the head. He had made threats of taking his own life, but it seems that not enough confidence was had in putting them into execution to watch him. The weapon with which the deed was done was borrowed from Glecker & McClure upon the plea that he wanted to kill a couple of hogs. A letter to his wife shows that it was premeditated. A jury returned the following verdict: That the said William B. Aaron came to his death in the basement of the First National Bank building by a pistol wound. Said pistol being held in his own hand at the time, while he the said Aaron was laboring under mental aberration."
