Henry was the son of Anne Neville and Sir Humphery Stafford, 1st Duke of Buckingham. Through both his parents, he was a great-great-grandson of Edward III of England. He married his second cousin, Margaret Beaufort, the mother of the future Henry VII of England. He and Margaret had no children, due to the fact that the difficult delivery of her son Henry had made her sterile and nearly killed her. In 1471, he died of infection.
