He was a retail milkman for 41 years and had worked for Spriggs Dairy, Thompson Dairy and then Holland Dairy. He served his country in the Army prior to World War II.
He was a member of the New Unionville Baptist Church and was very active in his churches throughout his entire adult life serving at various times as Deacon, song leader and Sunday school teacher. He also enjoyed woodworking and home improvement activities. He was also an avid Indiana University women's basketball fan and seldom missed a home game.
He was married June 3, 1941 to Leva G. Young of Stinesville and they had three children, one of which died as an infant. He was the proud grandfather of three grandsons and nine great-grandchildren.
