Beverly Nadine Lyga, age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, in her home with her devoted family at her side.

She was born on August 11, 1930, in Herkimer daughter of the late Milo and Mabelle Hull Smith. A lifelong Herkimer resident she was a graduate of Herkimer High School with the class of 1949.

On November 26, 1955, she was united in marriage to Frank "Fritz" Lyga. They shared a devoted union of 53 years until his passing on June 11, 1008. For 25 years she worked as a bookkeeper at the P&C Food Stores in Herkimer. She then worked for B.O.C.E.S. for six years retiring in 1993.

She was a member of the East Herkimer FD Ladies Auxiliary.

Beverly will be remembered as a fun loving person with an unforgettable smile and charming wit, who enjoyed being with people. She enjoyed her garden and decorating her home for all the holidays. People came from near and far to enjoy the meticulous lawn and window scenes she created for each season. She will live in the hearts of each person she touched through the years.

She is survived by three sons and their families.

Besides her parents and husband Fritz, she was preceded in death by her four brothers, John, Ronald, Wilfred "Willie", Adelbert "Skip" Smith and one sister, Norma Foster.
