Richard Carlton "Rick" Mouhot, 63, of Moss Bluff passed away unexpectedly at 3:26 AM on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.

Mr. Mouhot was born on July 20, 1958, in Kinder. He was raised in Lake Charles where he was a graduate of Barbe High School and then moved to Moss Bluff in 1990. Mr. Mouhot worked in the chemical industry as a maintenance scheduler, currently for Phillips 66. He was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and was an active member of First Baptist Church in Moss Bluff where he was a Deacon and past small group leader.

He took pleasure in traveling and taking cruise trips with his family and volunteered on mission trips both nationally and internationally. He enjoyed fishing and camping in his spare time. His most cherished treasure was his family and spending time with them. He was affectionally called "Papa" by his beloved grandchildren. Mr. Mouhot will be remembered as a hard worker who adored his family and had a loving and caring heart. He is leaving behind a legacy as a role model and leader to many. Mr. Mouhot had a huge impact on this community and will be missed dearly by all who were fortunate to be a part of his life.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Mona Anderson Mouhot of Moss Bluff; his sons, Jeremy Mouhot (Amanda) and David Mouhot (Chancey) all of Moss Bluff; his mother, Gloria Mouhot of Lake Charles; brothers, Mike Mouhot and Greg Mouhot (Tara) all of Lake Charles; and grandchildren, Brayden, Maddie Grace, Levi, Brennan, Laina Kate, Luke, and Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carlton Henry Mouhot.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 9, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Moss Bluff. The Rev. Jack Tillery and Rev. Steve Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow in Creel Cemetery in Bel, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin in the church on Sunday from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Monday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
