Published in The Piscataquis (ME) Observer, 21 Oct 1909, p1: "The death of George S. Woodbury occurred at his home on Lincoln Street Monday morning after a lingering illness. He was born in Durham, the son of James and Rebecca Woodbury, and moved to South Dover with his parents in 1821, where his father purchased a farm of the proprietors of the town. He spent the greater part of his life at South Dover, moving to the village several years ago. The last two years he had resided in Foxcroft.
Mr. Woodbury was 89 years of age and had the distinction of being the oldest resident of Foxcroft. He was the last of a family of eight children. His wife died about 30 years ago. He is survived by the following children, Mrs. H. P. Steadman and Miss Emma Woodbury of this town. Mrs. Sarah Ramsdell of Canova, S. D., Miss Lizzie Woodbury, with whom he made his home, and Webster Woodbury of Ellsworth.
Mr. Woodbury had been in failing health for a number of years, due mainly to his advanced age, and for the last two years had been confined to his bed the greater part of the time. He was a man possessed of many good qualities, having a very pleasant, kindly disposition, and his long enfeebled condition has been a matter of regret to his relatives and friends.
The funeral was held at his home Wednesday forenoon, Rev. M. C. Burtt of the Advent church, of which the deceased was a member, officiating." Transcribed & Submitted by Contributor: Duane E. Crabtree (47432569) 23 Jan 2022.
