Verdene is preceded in death by her parents and brother Gerald Jeffers.
She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Lester C. Jackson; children Larry Jackson and wife Julie, Jan Joffe and partner Michael McFarland, Pam Smith and husband Mark, and Jenn Wilson and husband Grant; grandchildren Erika Harden and husband Charles, Laura Battin and husband Poppy, Levi Jackson and wife Holly, Andrew Joffe, Tamera Brar and husband Vik, Terry Smith, Steven Smith, Duane Wilson and wife Cristy, Shayla White and husband Chris, and Zane Wilson and wife Kristie; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister Barb Specht and husband Jim; and brother Ken Jeffers and wife Mary. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.
Verdene was very active in her church, singing in the choir and teaching at Vacation Bible School. She also participated in Thursday Night Calling, helping to keep members active in the church. She was a stellar housekeeper, making sure her house always felt like a home. Even though she never gave herself credit for her cooking, her family would say otherwise, with her chili and goulash being among their favorites. Her family will state that no one could duplicate her wonderful holiday fudge. Verdene will be dearly missed by the loved ones she leaves behind to cherish her memory and protect her legacy.
