Joe joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he joined the Metro – Nashville Police Department, where he would serve for 30 years before his retirement.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Macon, Geraldine, Betty Lou, Bonnie Sue, Mary Alice, and Larry.
He is survived by his wife, Anne DeGasperis Brogdon; daughter, Jennifer; sisters, Johnnie (Clyde), Patricia, Sandra (Donald), and Candy; brother, Elwood; and many extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Joe's life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 15, 2021 in the Chapel of Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday. Joe's remains will be interred in the Calvary Cemetery in Massillon, OH at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Joe's memory to the ALS Association by visiting www.ALS.org.
