Bob was born on Oct. 14, 1940 in Crystal, to the late William Guy Havens and Mamie E. Hancock Havens.
Bob had been a resident of Route 3, Bluefield for 28 years and was the owner and operator of Bob's Excavating Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an adopted son, Danny Shrader; a brother, Ernest N. Havens; two sisters, Ethel Shrader and Katherine Gills; and a good friend, Pete King.
Survivors include: Wife, Dortha "Jane" Pennington Havens of Route 3, Bluefield; sons, Jeffrey Havens and wife Lori of Route 3, Bluefield, Robert Lee "Smokey" Havens Jr. and wife Tena of Route 3, Bluefield, Scott Havens of Route 3, Bluefield; adopted son's wife, Alice Shrader of Route 3, Bluefield; sisters, Eleanor Taylor and husband Woodrow of Wilmington, Del., Bertha Mitchem and husband Blonnie of Princeton; brother, Willie Havens and wife Joyce of Route 3, Bluefield; four grandchildren, Nicky, Budgee, Tracy and Dainelle Havens; special friend, Ralph Munsey and family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 2, 2006 at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with the Rev. Paul Hall officiating.
Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where David and Craig Havens, Roy Spaulding, Ralph Munsey Jr., Willie Daniels, Sandy Lucado, Denny Whitsel and Matt Simpson will serve as pallbearers.
The Havens family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10 till 11 a.m.
