MEXICO.......Velma A. Aspinwall, 88, a native of Oneonta, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at her home in Mexico, N.Y. Daughter of the late John E. and Alma Jane (Miner) Hay, Velma was employed in a defense plant in Oneonta during World War II and married Charles G. Aspinwall on Aug. 17, 1941, in West Oneonta.
A member of First Presbyterian Church of Mexico, she was also a member and matron of Victoria Chapter #205 OES, and a member and past president of Stone David Post #384, American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived be her husband of 60 years, Charles G. Aspinwall; a daughter, Alma Scaggs of Mexico; son, Wesley Aspinwall of Epping, N.H.; two brothers, Kendall E. Hay of Oneonta and Melville Hay of Schenectady; three grandchildren; and one great-grandcFriends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Harter Funeral Home, 9 Washington Ave., Mexico. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Westville Cemetery in Milford.
