A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM August 12, 2021 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for James Patrick "Pop" "Jimmy" Bellard, 85. Mr. Bellard, a native of Church Point and a 27-year resident of Central, LA, passed away Monday, August 9 at Acadia-St. Landry Hospital in Church Point. Reverend Jeff Bayhi will be the celebrant of the Mass and entombment will be in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.

Jimmy, the son of the late Maurice Bellard and the former Aline Olivier Bellard, is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna C. Bellard of Central; two daughters, Tammy Fontenot (Johnny) of Port Barre, LA and Michelle Chatagnier (Floyd) of Central; his 8 grandchildren who were his total pride and joy: Canean (Leigh Ann), Mia (Chris), Alexis, Taylor (Coby), Blayz (Justin), Hunter, Lily and Jagger; their mother, Harriet Bellard; his 7 great-grandchildren who were also what he lived for: Paisley, Lane, Tucker, Berkley, Parks, Sloan and Ember; his 6 brothers: Archie (Margaret), Randy (Marylou), Dale (Jerri), Danny (Charlene), Jerry Lynn (Betty) and Albert (Mindy); his 4 sisters: Elizabeth, Madeline, Theresa (George) and Dovie (Carl) and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Wanda Guilbeau and Jean Turnley; a son, James Bellard, Jr. and a grandson, Justin Bellard.

A U.S. Army veteran, Jimmy was a truck driver for most of his life. Hauling gasoline, propane, food products and cane was his greatest passion and he did it well. The errand runner for his grandchildren, the "sky was the limit" for their wants and needs. A member of St. John the Baptist Church in Zachary, LA, Jimmy made many friends, especially father Bayhi (whom he called "Gaté"). He will be greatly missed as a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbor and friend. There will be a U. S. Flag Presentation at the time of services.
