Funeral services for Autie Burgess, 84, route 2, Louisa, were conducted Saturday in the First Methodist Church by the Rev. Eston Calvert. Burial was in the Asch Cemetery, route 2, Louisa. Mr. Burgess died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at the residence. Mr. Burgess was born August 11, 1890, at Richardson, a son of the late Edward and Victoria Bond Burgess. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marie Holt Burgess; two daughters, Mrs. Stewart Bogaman of Winchester, VA and Mrs. James Thacker of Fort Wayne, IN; six sons, Fred Burgess of Mackey, ID, Harold, Phillip, and James Burgess, all of Dayton, OH, Ted Burgess of Carlisle, OH and Lt. Col. John Burgess with the U. S. Air Force in Guam. Big Sandy News, May 7, 1975
