Joseph William Chinn (1866-1936) of Warsaw, Richmond County, Va. Born in Tappahannock, Essex County, Va., February 15, 1866. Son of Joseph William Chinn and Gaybriella (Brockenbrough) Chinn; married, December 14, 1899, to Sarah Fairfax Douglas (died 1932). Democrat. Lawyer; Richmond County Commonwealth Attorney, 1891-1915; president, Northern Neck State Bank, Warsaw, Va., 1908-36; circuit judge in Virginia 12th Circuit, 1915-31; justice of Virginia state supreme court, 1931-36; appointed 1931; died in office 1936. Episcopalian. Member, Freemasons; Knights Templar; Shriners. Died August 16, 1936.

They lived at Warsaw, Va., all of their married life. They had five children:
1) Elizabeth "Betty" Landon Chinn who was born April 22, 1903 and lives in Baltimore, Maryland. She married Charles Richard "Dick" Martin on August 9, 1941.
2) Joseph William Chinn, the sixth in direct line since the original immigrant, John Chynne, was born the fifth of June 1904 at Warsaw Virginia. He married on April 16, 1931 Katherine Eloise Brown, born February 2, 1906 in Jacksonville, Florida to Charles Albert & Margery Camay (Wilson) Brown Jr. of Jacksonville.
3) Sarah Fairfax Douglas Chinn, was born in Warsaw on September 30, 1905, and married Howard William Reisinger. Howard was born in Washington D.C. on December 16, 1904 to Charles H. and Barbara Reisinger of that city. Howard died December 25, 1988, Sally died May 22, 1998.
4) Austin Brockenbrough Chinn, born May 8, 1908 at Warsaw, Virginia. He married on October 22, 1938 Ellen Wade, born April 22, 1910 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of George Garretson and Irene Elizabeth (Love) Wade, of Cleveland.
5) Mary Douglas Chinn, born at Warsaw October 1, 1910 and married Bonney McKoy Morris, born October 23, 1907 at Littleton, N. C., son of Marion Jackson and Susan Peebles (Hamill) Morris of Littleton.
