Abigail was the daughter of Micjah Newell Adams and Mary A. Pray.

On Apr 29, 1849 in Quincy, MA she married Albert Thayer, son of Capt. Elihu Thayer and Elizabeth Savil, and widower of Louisa Ann (Wilson) Thayer.

Their children were Ann L, Emeline Amanda, and Elmer E.

Abigail was predeceased by daughter Emeline in 1853.

She was survived by her father Micjah, who died on Oct 27, 1873 in Quincy; her mother Mary, who died Dec 11, 1886 in Quincy; husband Albert, who did Oct 1, 1898; son Elmer, who also died in 1898; and daughter Ann L. (Thayer) Morse, who died in 1937.
