She was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Carroll) Brown, grew up in Wooddale in the Red Clay area, and was a graduate of A.I. DuPont High School. In addition to raising her family, Mary worked for a couple of local printing companies, retiring from Mercantile Press in 2007 after 27 years of service.
Mary was a devout parishioner of Corpus Christi Church, often volunteering her time and talents in support of the Parish. She also enjoyed traveling with her close-knit group of friends. She will be remembered as a loving Mother, Mom-Mom, "Mom-Mom Great", and friend.
She is survived by her children, Mary Roepke (Bob, deceased), Harry Bacon (Linda), Joseph Bacon (Cindy) and Dennis Bacon (Trish); her grandchildren Bob Roepke (Kara), Jessica Chmielewski (Richard), Elizabeth Gadbois (Joe), Charles Bacon (Michele), Erica Bacon (Audrey Roach), Brittany Anderson (Patrick), Jillian Bacon (Nandish Pathak), Kelsey Bacon, Bridget Roepke (Jesse Sheedy); her great-grandchildren Chase, Aubrey, Jane, Paxton, Tobias, Naomi, Azariah, Madeline, Nova and Josephine; several nieces and nephews; and her former son-in-law, Dave Ricucci.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry; her daughter, Catherine Bacon; her brother Joseph Brown Jr. (Paula Jane); sisters-in-law Doris Murphy (Tom) and Judy Mahoney; and brother-in-law Danial Bacon.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, from 5:00 – 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Corpus Christi Church, 905 New Road, Wilmington, DE 19805. Interment will follow in St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery.
