Alva First United Church services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13 for Eva Gatz who died at her home southwest of Alva April 11 at the age 66. The Rev. Darrel Hardy, pastor, will officiate the rites.
Eva was born the daughter of Della (Johnston) and Emery Dimmick southwest of Alva March 20, 1918. She attended Liberty Bell Rural Grade School and the Avard schools, helping on the farm and doing other work.
Miss Dimmick was married to Louis Gatz on August 7, 1938 at Alva and the couple had three children. Following marriage hey lived southwest of town and Eva did some work for Dr. and Mrs. C. A. Traverse when they lived here.
She was a member of the Alva First United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Town & Country Extension Homemakers group, and a past president Woods County Farm Bureau Women Committee.
Pre-deceasing her were her son, Jimmie Ray on March 16, 1983, her parents, a sister, Donnie Dimmick and three brothers, Lloyd, Ellis and Rex Dimmick.
Survivors are her husband Louis of the home; a daughter and husband, Joyce and Edward Chase of Tishomingo, and a son, Joe, of Alva; three grandchildren, Gina Lou, Gregory Jim, Bradley Ray and their mother, Ruth Ann Gatz, all of Alva; two sisters, Helen and husband Steve Selfridge and Mae and husband Andy Davis of Delhi, New York; a brother and wife, Ira and Viola Dimmick of Dacoma; also a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Whartons of Alva is directing arrangements for the service and burial in Alva Municipal Cemetery.
