Gilbert M. Bowling, 85, of Monroe, died Friday December 9, 2005 at Hillspring Health Care. He was born October 7, 1920 in Perry County, Kentucky to parents Joel and Alaphair (Morris) Bowling.

Mr. Bowling was an Army veteran serving in WWII. He was a school administrator and a teacher. Gilbert obtained his BA and MA at Eastern Kentucky University. He was also a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Krypton Kentucky Masonic Lodge #905, 32 nd degree Master Mason Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rte Valley of Covington Kentucky. Member of Oleika Temple Shrine of Lexington, Kentucky.

Gilbert is survived by two daughters, Patricia B. Grigsby and Dora B. Noe, both of Monroe, two granddaughters Michelle (Kevin) Bevan of Anderson Twp. and Paula Renee Noe of Cincinnati, and one sister Grace Campbell.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline B. Bowling, his parents, brothers Elmo, Oscar, Fred, Joe, Sim, and sisters Mona, Oma, and Cindy.

Funeral services will be Tuesday December 13, 2005 at 2 pm at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. with Rev. Harold Combs and Rev. Mark Combs. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service from 1-2pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mound Cemetery with Military Honors by the American Legion Post 218.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, Ohio 45420, or the Alzheimer's Association, 644 Linn St., Suite 1026 Cincinnati, Oh 45203.
