Sarah Frances 'Spurrier' was the daughter of
Theophilus Spurrier and Zelotte 'White'
Spurrier. She was the granddaughter of
Thomas Spurrier and Elizabeth Spurrier.
Also believed, Littleberry White and
Nancy White.
Sarah's father was born in Tennessee
and her mother was born in
Virginia. Theophilus, her father, served
during the Civil War.

In the 1870 Census, Fulkerson, Scott Co.,
Virginia, her father, mother, and sibblings
were living with his parents, Thomas and
Elizaeth. At that time the household is
listed with the following:

Theophalus Spurrier, age 37
Zeolotte Spurrier, age 40
Martha J. Spurrier, age 16

Sarah Frances "Spurrier" Ketron was the wife
of Peter Nelson Ketron. They were married on
October 6, 1872 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.
NOTE: I now have a copy of their marriage
license. They were married by George Foust,
Justice of the Peace.

Sarah was the mother of 7 children:
Margaret Irene - 1873-1949
Mary Elizabeth - 1875-1945
Thomas Theophius - 1878-1956
Lottie Lovenlle - 1880-1956
William Martin - 1882-1856
Cora Amanda - 1885-1976
Jane - no info at this time
James Howard - 1888-1930

MRS. SARAH KETRON DIE'S AT AFTON HOME

Afton, July 17, Mrs. Sarah Frances Ketron,
80 years old, died at her home here at 6 p.m.
Tuesday. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs.
I. H. Long of Afton, Mrs. C.R. Parsons of Zena;
Mrs. Cora Beck of Afton and Lottie Eades of
Fayetteville, Ark. and two sons, Thomas and Will,
both of Afton.
Nineteen grandchildren and 12 great great
grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock
Thursday afternoon at the First Baptist Church of
Afton. The Rev. Elmer Reynolds will officiate.
Burial will be in Sixkiller Cemetery, near Afton,
under the direction of the Lane Funeral Home.

Margaret Irene "Ketron" Long was Sarah's oldest child and daughter, the wife of Rev. Isaiah Henry Maples Long, Afton, Oklahoma. Maggie and her husband are buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Afton, Ottawa Co. Oklahoma. Phyllis 'Long' Rhodes is the great grandaughter of Sarah and the granddaughter of Margaret 'Maggie' 'Ketron Long and Rev.
Isaiah Henry Maples Long.

As of May, 2016 Sarah and Peter, my
great grandparents now have stones
on each of their graves. They had never
had one and I'm so happy I could do this
in honor of them and my Daddy, Ray Long,
grandson of Sarah and Peter. The
stones have their names, dates and are
very pretty.

NOTE: Research will continue and be added when possible.
