Formerly Lived in Polk County; Died Near Boone

Friday occurred the death of James Franklyn Smith, at the home near Boone. He was born and lived in Polk County until about eight years ago. A daughter, Mrs. J. M. Reed, Now lives in Woodward.

The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home north of Boone and the Church of Christ in Boone, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Frost. Burial was made in the Linwood Cemetery, Boone.

James Franklyn Smith was born in Polk County, Iowa, on March 8, 1868, and departed this life July 23, 1926, at his home five miles north of Boone, being 58 years, 4 months and 15 days of age.

In 1889 he was married to Flora Smith and to this union six children were born: Mrs. J.M. Reed of Woodward; Louie, Verlie,Eli,Charles and Edith, all at home.

Fourteen years ago he moved to Boone frome Polk county and for the past eight years has resided about five miles north of Boone. Besides the wife and children, he leaves to mourn his departure, two granddaughters, Beula Reed and Francis Smith; one brother, Mr. Sherman Smith of Boone and two sisters, Ella Halloway of Medford, Oregon, and Lottie of South Dakota, besides other relatives and a host of friends.
