Herbert Allen Matteson Jr., of Carolina, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017. He was the son of the late Herbert Allen Sr. and Ida (Martineau) Matteson, born June 4, 1944.
He is survived by his son, Seth (Allen) Matteson Sr., daughter-in-law, Jodi, grandson, Seth A. Matteson Jr.; his son, Stephen A. Matteson; and longtime friend, Lee Bromley and son, Dillon Bromley.
Herbert proudly served his country in the Army Infantry. Herbert worked at Electric Boat for 33 years as a carpenter. He was Past Commander of Post 27 Hope Valley and Past Commander of Post 34 Charlestown. He was a volunteer fire fighter for Richmond-Carolina Fire Department.
A service with full military honors will be held Wednesday, July 19 at 11 a.m. at White Brook Cemetery, Pine Hill Road in Richmond.
A celebration of life will be held after the service at the American Legion Downer Weaver Post 34, Rte. 2, Charlestown.
