Services for George A. Atkinson, 85, McPherson, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Free Methodist Church in McPherson with the Rev. Harold Bishop officiating. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery.

Mr. Atkinson died Sunday, June 23, 1991, at a McPherson nursing home.

He was born Oct. 1, 1905, in Butte, Neb., the son of Charles Atkinson and Mary Sams.

Mr. Atkinson worked as school custodian for 17 years before retiring in 1973.

He had lived in McPherson since 1953, moving from Chambers, Neb.

Mr. Atkinson was a member of the Free Methodist Church.

He married Esther Salstrand on Aug. 16, 1933, in Omaha, Neb. She died Nov. 2, 1990.

Survivors include four sons, Charles E., Minneapolis, Kan., Melvin, Mohave Valley, Ariz., Don, Feltwell, England, and Leslie, Lawrence; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
