Sarah was the daughter of Samuel Johnson Beaver and Mary Emiline Cargile. About 1869 in what is today Stone County, Arkansas, Sarah married Newt Rorie. They had ten children: Jimmy, Willie, J.W.D., Mollie, Frank, Infant, Dorie, Twins Wayne and Jane, and Belle. Sarah was the star attraction at the Ozark Folkways Festival at Blanchard Springs in Stone County, Arkansas, in 1941. She received an award for being the oldest person in attendance and came in second in the hog-calling contest. Her daughter-in-law Lucinda Caroline "Linie" Morrison Farris Rorie won the fiddle contest at the Festival where Linie was backed up by her son, Sarah's grandson, Eulis Rorie, my father. Sarah was featured in the Sunday Magazine Section of Arkansas Gazette, 2 August 1942, "She Has Seen Four Wars: Stone County Woman, Aged 101, Has Lived Her History Lessons at First Hand in Farm Homes of Two Southern States," by Tom Shiras.

Sarah Beaver Rorie married Elisha "Lish" J. Tilley on Oct 5, 1918 in Searcy Co. AR. Lish died in 1934. Sarah was mostly known by the Rorie name and is buried by her first husband & father of her children, Newton Rorie. The date of birth on her tombstone does not match census data, but we do not know her exact birth date. Her obituary states that she was 108 years old, which matches the tombstone date.
