Lulu was the daughter of Thomas Beeson and Mary E. LaRocque (stage name: Mamie Merritt) She learned to dance the "Buck & Wing" dances from her father when she was a little girl. She became the champion of this dancing and reigned for 20 years. She spent the majority of her life traveling with her father and her first husband, Woods "Harry" Ferguson performing as the singing/dancing/comedy group called, "The Lulu Beeson Trio." They also had a son, Thomas Wilson. After "Harry's" death, she performed with her father until she met George O'Hanlon (stage name "Sam Rice, the Burlesque King") They married in 1908 and they travelled and performed all over the US until the Great Depression. Then they moved to Los Angeles in 1931. They both were cast in films. She had a lead role in "You Belong to Me." They had two more sons together, George, Jr. and James. She died in 1953.

Lulu Beeson, like many other famous dancers, comes of a theatrical family and was taught the art when a child by her parents. Her father was Thomas Beeson, who himself a famous clog dancer in his day. Thomas Beeson, besides playing in vaudeville over the United States, operated vaudeville theatres in Dallas, Texas, Butte and Helena, Montana. When Lulu was four years old her father began to teach her the art of buck-and-wing dancing. She made her dubut when five years old in a song and dance in the Main Street theater, Dallas, Tex. The family then moved to Spokane.
