Sharon B. "Slim" Baker, 90, Altoona, died Friday at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness. He was born in Bellwood, son of the late Cleo and Mary Catherine (Locke) Baker. On Dec. 25, 1953, he married Irene Smith.

Surviving are his wife; two sons: David Baker (Donna) of Bellwood and Gary Baker of Altoona; two daughters: Charlotte Baker of Reisterstown, Md., and Linda Lear (Rick) of Altoona; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a brother, Dale Baker of Altoona; and a sister, Helen Vipond of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by five sisters: Arlene Morse, Phyllis Frantz, Sondra Frantz, Mariam Oswald and Donna Roberts; and five brothers: Bob, Bill, Duane, Eugene and Richard.

Slim was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from SKF as a production assistant with nearly 40 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 24, 2021, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, Pastor Barry Folmar officiating. Committal will be held at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
