DAVID LEE RUTAN, age 84 of Felch, Michigan, formerly of Addison, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the home of his daughter Cindy in Centerville, Michigan.
He was born on October 25, 1936 in Somerset Center, Michigan to Claire and Charlotte (Lane) Rutan.
David was raised in Somerset Center before moving to Addison in 1962 for several years. He then lived in Felch, Michigan for 20 years and the past four months in Centerville.
David graduated from Addison High School in 1955 and then he was a veteran, serving in the United States Army.
He retired from the Goodyear Rubber Company in Jackson. David was the former Assistant Chief of the Addison Fire Department in the early 1970's.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fast pitch softball, golf, bowling and coaching women's Freddie Freeze softball team.
He was owner and member of the Addison Gun Club.
David is survived by two sons, Timothy (Karen) Rutan of Maumee, Ohio, Jeffrey (Chris) Rutan of Addison, one daughter, Cindy (Pastor Randy) Evans of Centerville, Michigan, thirteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, two brothers, John Rutan, Harold (Babe) Rutan, nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Chuck, Don, Louis and Jerry.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Addison, Michigan, with Pastor Randy Evans officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Burial will take place in Aldrich Cemetery-West, Somerset Township, Hillsdale County, Michigan. Military Honors will be provided by the Hudson American Legion, Hannan-Colvin Post #180.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
