Stella E. (Libby) Mathena, 72, of 166 Stacy St., Princeton, died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton following a long illness.

Born June 23, 1935 at Bluefield, she was the daughter of the late Edward H. Fletcher and Stella Agnes Brumfield Fletcher.

Mrs. Mathena was a homemaker and was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed gardening and gospel music.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Mathena in 1996; two brothers, Arthur Fletcher and Billy Ray Fletcher; and four sisters, Dorothy Compton, Irene Clasen, Glenna Cardwell and Loretta Carroll.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Walker and her husband Richard of Princeton and Linda Duncan and her husband Clinton of Bluefield; two sons, Harold Lee Mathena and Joseph Mathena and his wife Delores all of Princeton; one brother, James E. Fletcher and his wife Sue of Salt Rock; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Paul Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Serving as pallbearers will be Clinton Duncan, Michael Duncan, Richard Walker, Joseph Mathena, Jr., Wayne Repass and Johnny Walls.

Friends may call today from 6-8 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
