Helga was baptized on December 26, 1882 at Oddeyri, Akureyrarsókn, Eyjafjarðarsýsla, Iceland. She sailed with her family aboard the ship Craikforth from Akureyri to Glasgow, Scotland in July 1883. They changed ships to the SS Buenos Ayrian and left Glasgow on July 22 stopping in Queenstown, Ireland (now Cobh) and left there, apparently back on the Craikforth, landing in Quebec, Ontario, Canada on July 31, 1883. Helga lived only a little over two weeks after their arrival having died on the 18th of August in Winnipeg.
