Obituary
Arthur Russell Ethridge, 82, passed away January 24, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born on June 23, 1937 to the late Arthur Chalmus and Gladys Inez Sykes Ethridge. Russell was married to Pearle Yvonne Shumpert Ethridge for almost 58 years. Russell was born in Kinsey, AL and graduated Wicksburg High School in 1955, after which he joined the United States Air Force (Retd). He also retired later as a civil servant for the United States Army,

Russell was the epitome of what a man, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend should be. He was a man of character, a role model to many, and he had a great sense of humor. His story telling skills could keep the interest of all ages. He was just a Kool Kat!

Mr. Ethridge is survived by his wife, Pearle; three daughters, Melody Bailes (Joe Bailes), Angela Laffoday (Michael Kirby), and Patricia Ethridge (Marvin Johnson); eight grandchildren, Russell Crowell (Cyreeta), Thomas Martin, Jr., Benjamin Lee Laffoday (Erica), Ashley Martin Escue, Emily Flemming, Katy Bailes, Jason Ethridge Laffoday and Michaela Kirby; seven great-grandchildren, Issaic Beneitz, Donovan Crowell, Ryan Escue, Ethan Crowell, Roran Escue, RJ Flemming, Caiden Flemming and Sailor Pearle Laffoday. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Mamie Ethridge Free and Elaine Ethridge Rice; and one brother, Shelby Ethridge. He also has many beloved nieces, nephews, and great friends.
