Mrs. Hasenstein was born April 30, 1933, in the Town of Schleswig, Manitowoc County, to the late Helmuth and Edna Bratz Boeldt. She attended district grade school, graduated from Kiel High School in 1951 and attended Sheboygan Business College.
She was employed at Wigwam Mills for 28 years until illness forced her retirement in October, 1989. Bernice was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and was a member of the church's adult choir.
On Aug. 7, 1954, she married Dennis A. Hasenstein of Sheboygan at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in the Town of Schleswig.
Survivors are her husband, Dennis; three sons, Douglas (Margie) Hasenstein,. Brian (Jackie) Hasenstein and Michael Hasenstein, all of Sheboygan; six grandchildren, Jason, Holly, Zachary, Sean, Casey and Tyler Hasenstein; five sisters, Mabel (Kermit) Herman and Lorraine (Mark) Nagel, Valders; Marion (Otto) Hartwig, Plymouth; Betty (Don) Qroth, Oshkosh; and Jane (Garret) Hanke, Elkhart Lake; two brothers, Vernon (Jane) Boeldt, New Holstein; Norman (Judy) Boeldt, Howards Grove; and two brothers-in-law, Willard Leiteritz, Cleveland; and Wesley (Flora) Hasenstein, Sheboygan.
One sister, Fern Leiteritz, preceded her in death.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Rev. Alan D. Kubow, associate pastor, officiating. The burial will be In Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at Ballhorn Funeral Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m., Friday, (TODAY), and at the CHURCH, Saturday, from 9 a.m. to the time of services.
