Mary Esther Merideth JOHNSTON CITY
Mary Esther Merideth, 81, of Johnston City, formerly of West Frankfort, died at 12:40 am. Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in Herrin Hospital. Services will be at 10 am. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church, with Father Brian Barker officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Tuesday at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home. There will be a prayer vigil at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Merideth was a member of St John's Catholic Church and had worked for the Daily American Newspaper. She was born on Aug. 15, 1917, in Linton, Ind. to Timothy and Lennie Mae (Coulter) Coakley. She married Elmo Merideth on Jan. 18, 1939, in Linton, Ind. He survives. Other survivors include six daughters, Alberta Doochin of Nashville, Tenn., Jeanne Fox of St. Louis, Judith Robinson of Washington, D.C., Peggy Noll of Omaha, Neb., Paula Merideth of Carbondale and Catherine Merideth of Los Angeles, Calif.; one son, Mark Merideth of Solgohachia, Ark.; four sisters, Margaret Magnuson and Betty Larrabee, both of Chicago, Rose Bunch of Orange, Calif., and Connie Taylor of Freemont, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. Her parents, one son, David Merideth, and four brothers preceded her in death.
