Irene Margret Thompson, 93, of Thornton Avenue, Princeton, died Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton. Born April 17, 1914 at Bland, Va., she was the daughter of the late John Robert Catron and Sara Margrett Brown Catron.

Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Thompson Sr.; one daughter, Shirley Marie Cox; two sons, Gary Eugene Thompson and Glen Allen Thompson; two sisters, Anne Hoops and Jean Catron; and four brothers, Frank Catron, Ward Catron, Curtis Catron and Jim Catron.

Survivors include three daughters, Lillian Margaret Sheppard of Tazewell, Va., Patsy Naomi Wimmer of Matoaka and Sarah Jane Reed and her husband Wayne of Princeton; four sons, Melvin C. "Jimmy" Thompson and his special friend Carol of Princeton, Frank C. Thompson and his wife Patty of Thomasville, N.C. and Charles "Doc" Thompson Jr. and his wife Peggy and John Ward "J.W." Thompson and his wife Brenda all of Sandlick; 34 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and nine great, great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2007 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Roger Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at the Concord Cemetery in Tazewell, Va. Family will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call today from 6-8 p.m. at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
